Skoda Citigo (2012 - 2019)
SE 1.0 MPI 60 3dr Hatchback
Great at first, but ageing rapidly.
After having two Fabia's in a row, SWMBO decided we should have a new Citigo, so we ordered the car in September 2013 and were assured we would have the car before Halloween, in the event the car was not delivered until January 2014. First impressions were good, the car seemed economical, roomy despite it's small size and not that bad a drive, at the beginning, the car averaged over 50 mpg on a mix of Motorway and town driving, the very best I could coax out of it, according to the £300 PID satnav/computer thingy, was 69mpg, that was on a long A-road journey.
Some 2 years and 22000 miles later, the car is showing it's age, the engine seems gruff, the handling seems sloppy and the whole car just seems off, another nasty trait is the car nearly cuts out in traffic, just when it seems about to stall it wakes up again, no engine management lights in evidence. It's just been through it's second service and the dealer reckons it needs 3 tyres. 3 tyres on a small car with a back seat that has never been sat in. All four tyres have 4mm of tread, so I think the dealer is being a bit sharp in his practices. Fuel economy has went down to 48mpg average on the same routes and the car is using some oil. At the start we thought it was a great car, but I fear for it's long term health, we'll be glad to get shot of it next year.
