Dynamique dCi 106
Unrelible electronics
This may be of interest if you are thinking of buying and old one. I picked this 06 one up fairly cheaply 4 years ago at over 100,000 miles and now it has just passed 130,000. The heater heater resistor and fuel line with a hole in it were the first problems, but were fixed relatively easily. The windows started working eratically, and it was found that water from blocked scuttle had got into the wiring under the passenger seat, and also into the doors. So the scuttle drains were unblocked and the wiring fixed. 2 window switches and control modules were replaced by relatively new ones from a breaker. It also needed the aircon re-gassing to make it work. 3 years later the aircon failed again and was deemed too expensive to fix. But the worst problem was the second failure of the heater resistor which this time melted itself into the plug necesscitating the complete removal of the dashboard (5 hours of expensive labour). So if buying an old scenic 2 walk away if there is water ingress (check in the footwell trays), and the air blower doesn't blow. It is absolutely essential to have demisters working. You may also be lucky and just need the aircon regassed for the summer. The central locking also started acting strangely in hot and wet weather, perhaps the key fob, but more likely a faulty earth. The engine and everything else have been fine, it's just the potentially awful electronics you need to be aware of.
