Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009)
Dynamique 1.6 16v VVT People Carrier
Absolute Money Pit
The Renault Scenic is a text book example of how to take a well designed, practical, and stylish car, and then spoil it all by poor build quality, cheap materials, and over complex electricals.
My Scenic is truely he biggest pile of junk I have had the missfortune of buying. It is a 2008 model with just 41k on the clock, bought from a main dealer. In less than 2 months of ownership it has spent 3 weeks of the road and has already had £2000 worth of repairs done under warranty. Clutch failed, Air con failed, Air bag lights on, electric windows failed, suspension clunks, and heater ventilation fan lost power (needed the dash removing to replace failed electric component!).
I have now got an oil leak from the cam housing (quoted £500 to repair!) and the hydraulic tappets are noisy.
The elctric handbrake is like a time bomb ticking as they all eventually fail (£450 to fix) as are the electric windows which all fail eventually.
The gear box selector is now playing up (after new clucthc fitted!!!!) and have been quoted £800 to fix!.
The wings are made from plastic which flex when you wash them and the seat material is so thin it is wearing trough in places.
Absolute money pit. It would be cheaper to run a Porche than this piece of junk.
AVOID THIS CAR.
