Overall reliability

The very best estate car I have ever owned.

I bought this car with some reservations to replace a 2.2 diesel X type Jaguar which I was far from impressed with. Noisy, very hard leather seats and the constant worry about the clutch and EGR/injector problems from the Ford engine. Not really a Jaguar. (I also own an S type which is.) I paid £6500 for my Laguna with high mileage in 2013 when it was just out of warranty. An ex company car it came with full service history which was strangely missing when I collected the car. Not willing to wait for the usual inaction from the dealer I contacted Renault direct who provided me with the cars history on receipt of a scan of the V5C with my name on it.
Now the car in ownership. Nothing less than superb. With 100,000 on the clock now she still drives like a car with a lot less miles on it. The steering is precise, the throttle response instant and the brakes efficient. Excellent seats with half leather mold to your body and leave you feeling fresh after a long drive. Great sound system with very hands free blue tooth phone and, once you get used to it, good Sat Nav by Tom Tom. If you see one for sale at a good price,(I notice that they are going up in price) buy it. You will not be disappointed. The equivalent car to mine is now selling for upwards of £7000. This car is used almost exclusively by my wife on an urban commute and a weekly blast up the motorway by me to keep the FAP healthy. My Renault indie tells me he has never had a problem with one of these cars.
Update on this car April 2018. Now at 147000 miles and still running perfectly. Since we owned it she has had 4 tyres, brakes and discs all round and servicing. It says 2 yearly service intervals but I have it done every year. She has only failed one MOT and that was our fault as a seat belt got damaged. We lost a bit of the roof rail trim which is proving difficult to source so I have a friend in France sourcing one as there were a lot more Laguna 3's sold there. The car has been very reliable and is still good to drive.
