Great engine / terrible ride

I thought I would try something different with a Laguna. Having read a number of reviews, I had my reservations about the ride and handling as this is the area where they seem to be marked down, but owners seem pleased with them as whole and were quite complimentary about the car.

So I took the plunge and bought a Dynamique S 150 dci, nice car, well equipped, great electric seats, keyless entry a boon, and I even quite liked the looks - apart from the front 3/4 view around the bumper, which looked a little oversized for the car in my opinion.

I had taken the car on a test drive and was happy with the drive, but this must have been on smooth roads, as within a few days I was regretting my decision to buy.

Country lanes and urban bumpy roads were at best fidgety and at worse uncomfortably choppy. The car never seemed to settle, floating and bobbing about on motorways, inducing a sense of car sickness in my passengers. Bumps mid bend crashed feed back through the structure and the steering wheel, which in itself lacked any feel.

The rear leg room was not particularly good and for the size of the car the boot space was okay, but not great.

So, nice car to sit in, good equipment, but make sure you can live with the ride and driving experience before you buy one - espically if it is on the larger wheel sizes.

I was so unhappy with my car that I have now sold it (a word of warning that some dealers refused to touch a Laguna, even a new shape one) and bought a Mondeo instead. This rides and handles in a different league, has more space and should be easier to sell on later.
