Renault Laguna (2007 - 2012)
150dci Dynamique
Roomy, comfortable, reliable
This is an update after two years and twenty thousand miles. I complained of whining gears in the previous one, near the bottom of this list. The noise gradually disappeared, to the point that, after a few months, it was gone altogether. It must have been to surface rust on gears sitting out of the oil during long standing until I bought it. The key card was repaired by 'a bloke' known to the guy I bought it from, cost zero. So they can be fixed, never mind what the dealer says. The only thing apart from routine servicing has been cleaning of sticking brake pads/calipers. All the toys still work as they did. It's quick enough for a safe overtake, and really comfortable and non-tiring on those French auto routes, thanks to good seats, well suppressed engine and tyre noise, and cruise control. Still crashes over potholes and those perishing humps, though. Tows a caravan well too, at around 27mpg. I should never have doubted it was a good 'un.
