3.0 V6 Tiptronic S 5dr SUV

Amazingly poor

Must come clean with this one. I'm a chauffeur and the boss has just bought this car. He, and his wife, think it's the best thing since sliced bread. I'm not so sure. It's, mostly, well built and handles well. The petrol engine is quite economic for this type of car - 20 mpg around town and 28 on the open road. However, it is fast but it's not that good. You have to wait for the turbo to spool up so it doesn't have the 'bite' I expected. For example, a supercharged Jaguar feels more rapid and answers the fast peddle with much more alacrity. Now to the glitches. The rear doors have to be slammed shut. The doors mirrors don't tilt down while reversing (they are supposed to). The stop/start system cuts out just before you come to a halt, then it re-starts pulling the car forward unless the brake is very firmly applied. The brakes also 'grab' suddenly in slow moving traffic which makes the car difficult to drive smoothly. The radio has occasionally suddenly gone to full volume and the only way to stop this is to turn the car off and start again. Wonderful if you're not in a convenient place to stop. Now this car has already been back to the dealer because it came with a malfunctioning dash-board screen. Yet it has all these issues which are just unforgivable in such an expensive car. Hope the boss soon gets another Range Rover!

A few months on (now June 2019) and the car has gone. Somebody desperately wanted it and it was sold. The brake grabbing issue was mis-diagnosed by me. After a few months I realised it was the automatic gear box holding on to 2 gear as the car came to a stop. This, combined with the auto engine off, could suddenly cause the car to jerk forward before it came to a halt. Unforgivable in such a 'premium' car. However, I've now driven a diesel version with the V8 engine. This is a different car - doors close properly and the gear box works just as it was designed to do. The first Cayenne must have been a Friday afternoon job?
