Overall reliability

Very well made, roomy and so economical.

We wanted to downsize but have most of the luxuries that were on our last car. Most important was to have all electric front seats as my wife has arthritis. It is difficult to find smaller cars with this feature and we ended up looking at the BMW 2 series Active Tourer and the Mercedes B Class.

We tried a BMW and it was quite nice but we were unable to find one with electric seats so we turned to Mercedes and none of the thre dealers within easy reach could offer one to try. so I looked at Mercedes website for a used one. The only one available was a 1 year old B220 CDI Sport and I was put off by Honest John's description of a terrible ride quality on the 18'' wheels with 225/40 R18 tyres which are fitted to this car. Well we thought that we could at least test the seats.

What a surprise we had. The ride was excellent. Firm but superbly damped. I was given a specification sheet listing all the details of this car and the suspension is described as "agility control suspension" so they must have modified it since the launch of this model. There is excellent performance from the 2.1 diesel engine and the new dual clutch transmission (my first experience) was brilliant with none of the troubles reported about the DSG from VW. We liked it so much that we bought it there and then.

I am very impressed with this car. The fuel economy is staggering. I am getting up to 60 mpg. The build quality is excellent and so is the built in Command Sat Nav, by TomTom, and I was surprised when a message came up saying that I was getting low on fuel so did I want to be directed to the nearest filling station? The music storage is great with 10GB capacity. The electric seats have ample adjustment and the passenger one also has memory settings. The spec sheet says that the seats have the comfort package!

All in all a very well made, roomy , comfortable and economical car and only £30 a year tax.
