Mazda 3 (2014 - 2019)
2L petrol auto sport nav
Quiet and comfortable, pleasant to drive and better looking than most.
Coming up to 5 years old now and no big problems though a couple of minor niggles. On the plus side it is very pleasant to drive and the auto box is smooth and unobtrusive. The seats are comfortable, very few aches after a 200 mile drive. Plenty of room in the boot, excellent led headlights and generally well equipped. It’s not a performance car though progress can be reasonably brisk if one is prepared to change gear manually via the paddles. The only consistent problem has been the iStop system which is supposed to stop the engine when at a standstill. It became erratic and then stopped working completely for over a year. Just a few days ago it started working again though who knows for how long. It’s a bit heavy on fuel, though does mostly short journeys so no surprise there. On a run it can get up to about 55mpg, though the long term average is more like 35mpg. Overall it’s a good car and I’d have another one if I wanted another ICE car.
