Kia Sportage (2016 - 2021)
Kia Sportage 1.6T GDI 174 Automatic 4WD
Hideous Fuel Economy
When thinking of this car it’s difficult to get over the hideous fuel economy I didn’t expect 60mpg but hoped for something close to the quoted mpg, 35mpg would’ve been acceptable but 22-23mpg on a brand new car in 2022, opted for the petrol over the diesel due to the diesel being underpowered but if you’re considering this as a used vehicle avoid like the plague unless you don’t intend to use it and just have it sitting in the drive. If you’re looking at a new one wait inline for the new petrol hybrid the MPG will be better but not as good the manufacturer quotes I suspect. Our car developed problems a few hundred miles in which isn’t exactly what you expect from Kia nothing major but still hassle and a few hours messing about backwards and forwards with the garage. The problems were not related to the mpg by the way. Kia do make decent cars with decent specifications where everything is usually acceptable but don’t expect anything slightly above average. There’s no thrilling driving experience to be had here or luxurious comfort you do need to go top of the range for a decent level of specification, leather is high quality plastic which might appeal to vegans. The outer rear seats are also heated on this car which is the best feature according to my two teenage boys. The cabin is roomy lots of headroom and good visibility, the seats feel thin and are quite uncomfortable on long journeys due to lack of quality interior speaking of which is very plasticky and now rather dated
