I bought a 1.6 focus zetec climate as a replacement for my Honda jazz. Within a week of driving the power steering pump failed and the cost to replace by the main dealer was shocking. I managed to obtain a reconditioned one and hose which was fitted by an independent garage for much less. The abs light came on permanently due to an ECU fault.
I have found the 1.6 thirstier than expected getting 28-29mpg around town. The car handles very well and cruises smoothly with minimal wind and road noise. I might have been unlucky but the costs for several repairs during my short time of ownership has put me off buying another ford.
