Big disapointment

We wanted a replacement for our Golf Plus i.e. something with a higher profile, 5 doors, good boot etc. and as the current Golf Plus is a bit pricey we let ourselves be talked into a C-Max. It was an ex-managers car, 5k on the clock and they threw in a few extras so we went for it. It corners well and the rides not too hard (most hatch's seem to be geared up for boy racers in terms of stiff suspension) and the seats are good. On the minus side, the 1000cc engine needs all 6 gears to get it moving and over-taking, the MPG is only about 45 (not good in this day and age) and the gear change is awful. The gears go in OK but its very clunky unless you do it very slowly. I suspect the trouble is in the design of the selectors but it feels more like a car of the 70's than of the 21st century in terms of its gear change. Its only £30 a year tax but unless that's a real priority, don't touch this model with a bargepole!!
