Citroen Grand C4 Picasso (2014 - 2018)
1.6 BlueHDi 120 Flair Start+Stop 5dr
Beautiful comfortable well equipped but reliability nightmare
There is a lot to love about this car. It is fabulous for families - we use it to take 6 people and masses of luggage (with roofbars) and it is very spacius and comfortable. The equipment is great - kids love the sliding roof and adjustable airflows for long journeys. The dual displays are huge with oodles of settings. It can be difficult to work out where to find settings and there need to be more buttons and fewer menu choices. The running costs for fuel and insurance are OK. Nice touches are courtesy features like auto folding mirrors, remote boot opening and courtesy lights.
The downsides: The handling is at best mediocre, it wallows in corners and it feels unsafe to sling it around corners too fast. The computer does weird random things; my autostart randomly stopped working, occasionally it just refuses to start for no obvious reason (even after manufacturer recall). It often feels like the computer is spinning a dice to decide if it will cooperate today.
But by far the worst is the DPF diesel particulate filter mine has been a NIGHTMARE. Warnign lights come on and I need to take it to a main dealer who refuses to pay for the obvious fault which is denied under the warranty. I've spent nigh on a thousand to fix it over a year or more and it has just gone wrong again. I've no idea if this is a general Citroen issue or just a cursed car. But I'm done with it and Citroen.
