Overall reliability

The most unreliable car I have ever owned, and I'm a Citroen Fan!!!!!

Nice styling, quite quirky and cool for a small family coupe, I regularly get 55+ mpg on long runs!

However it all goes quickly downhill from there, I don't know whether I had a "Friday Afternoon" car, or I was just plain unlucky!

I bought an 06/2006 Citroen C4 1.6 HDI VTR coupe, 90bhp, secondhand, and shortly after had to have (replaced under dealer warranty) a brand new cylinder head and injectors, as the old injectors were all leaking poisonous combustion gases into the cabin, and the injectors had sealed themselves into the head and couldn't be replaced!

Just prior to taking it in too, the turbo charger physically SNAPPED in half inside and completely failed, so that was replaced free of charge too!
Cost to me £0, Cost to the dealer £2400!!!

I thought that was the end of my problems, but then the fuel computer display started to bleed liquid inside giving it a mucky appearence, THEN the air conditioning completely failed...

After that and things were fixed, but then ONE year later and the cylinder head gasket has gone, the water pump is leaking and the cambelt has become soiled by leaking coolant!

In the meantime, did I mention the recall for the rear light wiring, and the tailgate spoiler which was loose and flapping about?

Did I also mention, the cruise control which has now failed too?

Oh and almost forgot, the 2 exhaust heat shields under the bonnet which snapped, a common failure it seems due to vibration!

Apart from that usual service items of brake disks/pads and tyres.

I have owned a C5 2.0 HDI diesel prior to this (which was a total delight in comparison), a ZX 1.9 diesel, two BX19 diesels, so you can see I am a Citroen fan!
However NOT ANY MORE, how can a company produce such a shoddy cheaply built car?

Compared to the C5 I had before, the C4 is cheap feeling, very noisy on the motorway, hard suspension, and just plain low-rent feeling, Golf and Ford seem to do a much better job!

I have spent more on repairs to the C4 than ANY other car I have EVER owned regardless of manufacturer!

Would I recommend it to a friend? NOT flipping likely if I want to keep them!
However I'd recommend it to an enemy though!
