Hello.
The Lexus dealer in the UAE uses a 20w by 50 oil for oil change yet the handbook states this can be used, the handbook also states that the best all round oil to use is a 5W by 30. Given the very hot climate of the UAE avg year round temp of 30 - 35c with a summer average of 40c and dusty conditions is it wise to use the 20w by 50w or a different oil, will a 20w by 50 be more stable at higher temperatures. Is 20w 50 synthetic or part synthetic? The dealer currently uses Castrol and previously used BP Visco.
Thanks for any replies.
Rgds.

i,m no expert but it does make sense to use a thicker oil in such a hot climate there.s a good piece on oil viscocity at the top of this page. a reputable oil manufacturer should also know the best viscocity for your car.
