No such thing as a 'cheap' ferarri, someone will be paying for that racing history dearly! If it isn't bought by an enthusiast to work on personally, the next owner of this car will be into £10k in the first year. Just goes to show the risks you can run if you buy a performance car second hand.

sounds chep to me but i would rather have had the packard

Its a racing car, it is not going to put on the road as cherished example, one careful owner, never crashed etc.

SNIPQUOTE!"
Perleman,
Are you soft in the head or something? Evenen if you have to pay £15k over the next 12 months, that car was still a very cheap Ferrari by any reckoning. If exported to other countries it would sell for alot more than it's UK value as well. Wake up Man!!

Was it cheap? I'm sure the bidders had a very close look at the car & its history & bid accordingly. Being a 'classic' auction the level of specialist competence would have valued the car fairly precisely - perhaps an ex-racing job would require lot more new stuff than an averagely used road version. Sure, it went for 'trade' value - this on a high end tempermental beast like a racing Ferrari may mean a contingency refurbishment fund maybe equal to or in excess of the nominal sale amount.

Cheapest 360 currently on Autotrader is £45k.
Like Cheddar says this one will probably remain a track car. About 12 years ago I knew an architect who had an Impreza as his runabout but also had two 308s, one for the road and the other a track car, fully stripped out, roll cage, slicks, etc., that he used to race in his spare time. Rich mans toys..

You're missing the point completely, I said 'someone will be paying for that racing history dearly!' - not neccesarily the trader who buys & resells it, but maybe the person who buys it from them for 40-50k or more. I have no idea if it's likely or not (and I suspect not), but maybe it will be restored to a road car to be sold at that price. Even if it cost 15k to do that there's still plenty money to be made in it. What a dog if it is, there goes another shattered dream. I have some idea what these cars cost to run, and believe me, after reading some of the issues and bills that F owners deal with, I felt a lot better about spending £700 for a clutch on my boxster. New headlamp for £1100 anyone?
