Just about to leave for 5 days touching down in Amsterdam from London
One problem is driving on the opposite side of the road!

Any tips on speed limits or driving or motels in France/Holland/Switzerland.

Is there any of these countries you would rather not drive in , any cause. From what I have heard France has one disadvantage ie numerous toll roads and its extremely hilly in Switzerland.

Dont know anything else though.

Also does anyone know any roadside motel chains where I could ring and make a reservation for a room on that day,not the costly ones.

Lastly is there is anything I should be careful of?
Thanks for any replies.

do a forum search (right hand menu bar) on 'accord' and 'campanile' - should point you in the direction of previous discussions

actually, I've just tried following my own advice and found it meaningless, so try -

"roadside motel chains "
www.logis-de-france.fr/fr/index.htm - these are usually good value family run hotels often with excellent food
Motel chains:-

And there are more - above range from about £20ish per room to £40 ish. Formula 1 motels are cheaper but you share shower/toilet. All those above are "en suite". Also lots of others and all are well signed off the major roads/Autoroutes.

"France has one disadvantage ie numerous toll roads "
Not all of the autoroutes are toll - and they are much quieter and easier to drive on than British motorways.
Some good route national roads as alternatives, though in the Northern industrial areas you may pass through many villages and towns - I reckon the tolls are worth it if you are in a rush and the RNs better if you have more time/want to see more of France/like stopping at cafes/points of interest/markets etc.
Dutch ones are, I think, free, Swiss ones you need a "card", bought at the border.
