  • Fiesta spark plugs 3 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Ford Fiesta 1.400 cc petrol Duratech engine 2003. I have just changed the spark plugs on the above car at 31,000 miles. I have set the gap at 1.3mm, but there is now a slight missfire at slow speeds. Is this the correct measurment for the gap, as the car was running OK before I changed them.
  • VW G12 coolant replacement 16 Jul 2006 (Forum)
This stuff is expensive at £7ish for 1.5 litres. Is there any substitute that can be reliably used, bearing in mind the specific VW anti-corrosive requirements? As a thought - does anyone know what coolant is used in the Ford Galaxy diesel engine as I think this is a VW PD unit. Any help

For those who have digital. 7.05 tonight BBC 4 are showing The Secret Life of The Ford Cortina. First screened in 1982 as part of the Arena series it is interesting and at times very funny. I caught the second half of it when they ran it earlier in the week. A great piece of eighties nostalgia.

  • best Focus engine? 4 Jul 2005 (Forum)
In the Ford Focus, which is the best engine to have. I'm assuming you automatically ditch the 1.6, so a toss up between the 1.8 and the 2.0? In struggling to sort a car out for my wife, we had a drive in a 02 2litre today and I thought it was a bit rough and noisy when revved.
  • In defence of Citroen/Peugeot 10 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Although french car manufacturers seem much maligned in general, I have noticed that your average 10 year old french motor has very little or no rust compared to the equivalent age Ford/Vauxhall offering...opinions? P.S. I exclude Renault from this as they tend to rot IMHO...
  • Mini vs Mustang 22 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Here's a nice one. On 'Modern Antiques' tonight, Alan Titchmarsh and James May drew comparisons between the original Mini and the Steve McQueen/Bullitt Ford Mustang. Which was the better car, they asked the studio audience. Seems to me there's no contest. Could the Mustang (with or without
  • 2000 Landrover TD5 rear air suspension 1 Apr 2005 (Forum)
We are thinking of buying a 2000 Landrover Discovery TD5, but note from HJ's carbycar breakdown that there was a problem with floodwater or water from fording streams getting into rear suspension and causing it to collapse. Does anyone know if this was a frequent occurrence

Hi there, I will be emigrating to Australia soon and want to know if any back roomer's have had any experiences with Aussie cars (Fords, Holden's) or any of the available Japanese cars there. I know that you can get most European cars, but just testing the water for something different....maybe!

  • Mondeo Immobiliser 15 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I have a 1994 Mondeo with a factory fit Bosch immobiliser. It has developed a fault where it is not releasing the fuel pump when you deactivate it. My garage has isolated this part of the system, but say it will have to go to Ford for a complete fix. Has anyone any experience of this system
