Car by Car Breakdown 27 Jul 2004 (Forum)
of these cars outweighs their faults? Or are the faults in reality limited to a small number of cars, with general reliability being pretty good? Due to experiences in my Dad\'s old Renaults and Citroens as a kid, I have a phobia about unreliable cars. His Renault 16 used to overheat on every long trip. -

Chrysler Grand Voyager 2000 2.5td - electrical faults and loss of power above 2000rpm 20 Mar 2017 (Forum)
to eat its gearbox 3k short of 200,000miles. This old car had served me well for the last 4 1/2yrs despite only costing £600 back then. In truth, this was such a good car that I have become accustomed to its reliablity, and mistakenly assumed all voyagers would be of a similar ilk, so when -
Ford Mondeo - disposing a scruffy, uninsured car that runs 17 Feb 2014 (Forum)
so if all goes to plan I will have a newer car soon. Only one insurance policy so the old one will have to be uninsured - I have off-road space for it. This also means I need to declare SORN on it to avoid trouble - this stuffs up a plan to keep it taxed and buy short-term insurance if anyone -
Citroen AX (1987 -1997) - 1989 1.1 RE, trouble with front brakes 16 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I wonder if anybody can give me some hints. Reliable old AX11 that always starts well and runs well. Has been a cheap car to run and not much has gone wrong. Recently when braking sharply the N/S front wheel seems to lock up but the car does not pull to N/S when applying the brakes. Brakes work -
Should I buy what I want? 11 Mar 2004 (Forum)
A new job starts soon and I need to sell my beloved MX5 and get something with a bit of boot space. Bearing in mind I'm a victim of driving pleasure addiction I don't want a diesel. The 3 cars I've shortlisted right now in the £2000-£2500 bracket are: Mondeo 1.8/2.0. I can pick up a 4 year old -
Speeding (mostly excl cameras) Vol 45 21 Aug 2006 (Forum)
and open fields the other. Sure I speed and TBH, would have been travelling close to 40 if I had my old C class. There must be a sligh error in the speedo reading and let's asy i was doing 33mph - is the old, unwritten rule for good weather and clear road rquation out of the window, ie: Speed of car -
Peugeot 5008 - Peugeot 5008 or Ford S-Max 20 Aug 2017 (Forum)
years younger than an smax and about 20-30k miles less. I'm hoping to keep the car for about 5 years. An smax would then be 10years old and a 5008 would be 7 or 8 years old. Based on this I've researched that the 5008 would be worth about £1k more than the smax in 5 years too. Basically I'm -
Mazda 3 TS2 1.6 D - Conrod through Engine 15 Jan 2014 (Forum)
My TS2 1.6 diesel had a conrod go through the engine in Dec 13. The car was 3 years old in Mar 13. It has been serviced by Mazda each year but not inline with the Mazda mileages specified (Jan 11 with 10,061, Feb 12 with 24,416 and Mar 13 with 47,754). The car has been inspected -
Complexity of Modern Cars 10 Dec 2012 (Forum)
'technicians' (not mechanis anymore) just swap out parts until a fix is achieved they don't put back the parts that were fine so we pay for all the replacements & perfectly good parts go in the bin. Electronic chips have a notoriously short life so cars at 10 years old often can't be repaired, I've been -
Renault Clio II - Compensation/Repair 7 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I brought a 10 year old car 3 months ago and have just had it MOT'd. Been told there was a fault with the ABS light needed to invesitgated. I paid Renault £95.94 for the testing and they have said that someone has removed the instrument cluster and messed about behind -

In the market for new car - please help 2 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hi everyone. First time post here so be gentle. Also bear in mind I am not too "up" on cars - that said, I still prefer to have a decent driving experience and not just any old banger. I passed my test two years ago and my first car which I still have now is a 3 door 1.4 Corsa B (1998, S Reg) I -
what I should have done New lexusIS 11 Feb 2006 (Forum)
advise Lexus at once. Advise them that if extensive repair work will be required to rectify the faults you reserve the right to reject the car. 4. Don't be fobbed off with any old date to fix the faults..the dealers know that the longer you have the car the weaker your ability to reject -
Driving Other Cars, Insurance Q 21 Dec 2005 (Forum)
the 'drive other cars' extension on my policy. It was a bit of a surprise when I got this facility from Budget being under 25 and all, but it is very useful thing to have-share the driving with a mate on a trip out, borrow a family car to nip to the shops, take the old man's Cooper S out for a spin etc -
New CAT needed at only 16months old 20 May 2005 (Forum)
Just thought I'd share this with you and to see whether others have had a catalytic converter fail at a young age. My car was registered in Jan 2004 and I bought it last July as an ex-dealer show car - just been standing in the showroom etc. A couple of weeks ago, it started rattling underneath
