  • 1998 Espace diesel brake problems 11 May 2006 (Forum)
    1) A friend of mine has a 1998 R reg espace diesel, done about 110k almost trouble free miles, he has recently experienced the brake pedal sinking to the floor if constant pressure is held on the pedal. The local Renault specialist has bled the brakes 3 times and has replaced the master cylinder
  • Fiat Barchetta rear brake imbalance 23 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Afternoon all, The Barchetta has blotted its copybook by failing its ´TüV´ here in Germany, the biennial equivalent of the MoT test. Amongst other things - all pretty repairable, thank goodness - the tester reported an uneven braking performance from the rear brakes (newish discs and pads all
  • Fiat Punto CVT servicing 15 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Currently run a 1.2 16V Fiat Punto CVT (Speedgear). It runs as sweet as the proverbial nut but at 10,000 miles I've noticed a grinding noise coming from the front brakes. I'm guessing that the pads need to be replaced; although it's an auto and the brakes need to be used more, would
  • Renault Megane 03 Brake Light Bulbs 21 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Hi. I am new to this forum - so please bear with me. I have a new shaped Megane from 2003. Both the back brake light bulbs have gone (two side ones, not the one at the top back). It says in the manual to remove 2 bolts at the side whilst the boot is open. These are weird star shaped things
  • Omega Brake Force Distribution 21 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I took my 2001 Omega 3.0 for its first MOT last week. It passed but on the accompanying tick list sheet they give you I was intrigued with the brake test figures. They don't give units of measurement but the fronts were 450/420, rears 220/220 and handbrake 270/280. Should the fact that the fronts
  • 55 Vivaro 1.9 - Brakes 26 Mar 2016 (Forum)
When driving at no particular time or distance the brakes start to gradually operate on their own. Having pulled over and waited 10 or 15 mins it clears itself. Or sometimes while driving, lifting the peddle slightly with my left foot sometimes clears it. Two garages cannot solve the problem

  • WD40 - Is it OK to use on seizing brake link 21 Sep 2008 (Forum)
My son's brake linkage is seizing, is OK to use WD40 to initally free it if comes in contact with wheel cylinder rubbers etc. Then use PTFE type grease/oil for long term use as a prevention of seizing. Thanks Made (rather obscure) make/model non-specific

Pre MOT checks revealed that the brake lights were not working. (as well as the reveresing lights). Replacing the 10 amp fuse with similar blew. Due to time restraints, fitted a 15A fuse and normal operation restored although not a satisfactory outcome. Has anyone else seen this problem?

Hello I've just changed the brake shoes on my Megane and have noticed that the handbrake lever is coming up a long way before the brakes engage. Do I have to wait for the auto adjusters to kick in before I adjust the hand brake? If I have to adjust the handbrake how do I do it? Thanks Andy

  • Brake Squeal - Vauxhall Zafira 27 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I've developed a rear (drum) brake squeal on my 02 Zafira . Have taken the drum off and given everything it a good clean , but it persists. The shoe surfaces looked a bit shiny, could this be the cause - is it OK to rough up the surface with sandpaper? - I assume it's all asbestos free these days.
  • Drilled & Grooved brake discs 20 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Shortly require replacement brake discs and pads for my Rover 25. I am thinking of 'upgrading' to drilled and grooved discs such as the Rossini items offered by Car Parts Direct, I would be interested to hear if any BR's have fitted these discs and if they do provide any benefit over OE discs.
