Brake judder! 6 Oct 2022 (Forum)
My Citroën AX, I had new brake disc and pads few months ago, few days ago, I heard a faint noise from the suspension at the front because of my hearing problem hard to diagnostic where it is. I have found it is the strut damper is leaking and slight loose. Today it has been refitted new -
Brake Fluid Change or Test? 28 Jul 2017 (Forum)
The general view on here is, I believe, that brake fluid changes every 2 years is just a profit generating exercise by main dealers when in fact the fluid only really needs changing if the moisture content is too high. So does anyone here own/use a brake fluid tester? Sealey sell one -
MOT Testing & Brakes 19 May 2017 (Forum)
, one is always happy to be told of such things, but I always understood that an MOT didn't include taking wheels (or indeed anything else) off of the vehicle, and the braking element merely involved a rolling road. Has this been updated, do Kwak Flap have a means of examining braking components -

I have just bought a 1.9 JTD Fiat Doblo and everything thing is in great condition except for a baffling technical problem. I have just stripped all the brakes down and checked the pads. The sensors have been removed from the front pads. The fluid level was slightly high, but I took a little out -

I have an 03 reg mondeo 2lt tdci. I had the front discs and pads replaced dec 09 as they were worn and it sailed through it's mot at end of Dec 09 with no advisories. I have now noticed what I can only described as a grating sound? This is present on braking but also -
FIAT Grande Punto (2006 - 2009) - 08 1.4 Brake failure on 4 month old car 14 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Is there any history of this? A member of my family acquired a Grande Punto 1.4 Auto back in June, it has since covered 4K miles of ordinary road driving. Yesterday on the way home from work, the ABS warning light came on. On getting the car home, the driver braked, a lound thud then came from -
Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 1997 1.8TD Where is the brake proportioning valve? 23 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Hi, hope someone can help me! I have bought a '97 Ford Mondeo 1.8 TD LX estate, and it came with an MOT failure sheet stating "little or no operation of nearside rear brake". The previous owner had the car looked at by a garage, and the paperwork from them says faulty brake compensator valve. I -
Rear brake lights 28 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I have been driving for 25 years. In the last few years I have noticed an escalation in cars driving without brake lights. Having almost running into the back of a few. Is this due to owners not checking their lights regularly. MOTs not being carried out properly. Or more sinisterly, muppets -
Electronic Parking Brake (Passat) 5 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Give me an old fashioned handbrake any day. Ex-colleague of Andy's had had his brand new Passat just days when the parking brake refused to come off. Andy's had his about four months and 12,000 miles, and yesterday his parking brake refused to go ON. I received a forlorn text this morning saying -
Toyota Yaris 2003 - Servicing 5 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I?ve just taken my dads Yaris 1.0 (54 plate) to have its 2 year service. Its only done 10k miles. The service book states that the oil/filter need changing, and that the brake fluid should be changed every 2 years (i.e. now). Speaking to the service manager at the approved Toyota service centre -
Motorway brake failure 6 Apr 2006 (Forum)
The last couple of times I have driven for a longish stretch on a wet motorway, I have gone use the brakes and found they did not work. This only happens after 40ish miles of wet motorway driving, and a couple of hard applications seems to restore the proper effect again. The pedal is still hard -
1998 Punto 60S shakes under braking 16 Mar 2005 (Forum)
My wife's 1998 75,000 mile Fiat Punto 60S has a distinct shake under heavy braking similar to having warped discs. It seems to be coming from the nearside only. The car does not have warped brake discs as I recently changed them (together with the front pads)to try and cure the problem -
Braking technique question 26 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Had a discussion (argument) with a colleague this morning on the 'best' technique to use when descending relatively short hills. Not your Alpine pass variety, just a mile or so which proves too steep to keep in check simply by closing the throttle. I've always favoured braking using a series -
Citroen Xantia HDi brake pad wear 10 Sep 2001 (Forum)
My Citroen Xantia HDi 110 bhp estate was bought in November 1999. At the first service I was told that the front brake pads would need replacing in 4000 miles - I had done 8300. I had the pads replaced at the service to save taking the car back later. At 14000 miles this week, the brake pad -
Scary Moment 4 Sep 2001 (Forum)
Any advice or clues? Coming home from work this morning, as I approached a set of lights under braking I passed over a ridge in the road - it has always been there - probably as the brakes had just started to bite. Travelling no more than 25 - 30 and slowing, the whole car bounced -
Audi A3/S3 brake problem 23 Jan 2001 (Forum)
HJ I have recently bought an Audi S3 and recently had a fright when after driving on medium wet roads, the brakes failed to work at the next junction. I know to operate the brake (left footed if necessary) to clear the discs after a flood, but the latest models of A3 and S3 seem to suffer from -
MOT / headlamps / brakes / con-men 28 Dec 2004 (Forum)
it to a garage up the road. So I can see that there's not a lot in it for him just doing her MOT - she pays him the fee and he passes it on to the place up the road, wasting some of his time in the process. The bill is over £180, and here's the breakdown: Brake shoes £31.09 Brake cylinder £27.40 P???e gas
