  . Strangely I never manage to overfill the oil when doing interim changes, so perhaps there is a "technique" I am missing and known only to car mechanics ? Anyway straight home to siphon out the excess with the Pela Extractor - purchased for this very reason (and the interim changes). Hopefully no damage

  This never seems to appear in the maintenance schedules, but I was just wondering if, after 120,000 miles, it might be worth dropping the gearbox oil out of the Mondeo and filling with fresh stuff? I plan to keep the car for a bit by the way. This gearbox actually seems to have a drain plug

  Since I bought my 1.4 TDI PD VW Polo in 2002 (yes I know its old but its only done 17,000 miles) I have changed the engine oil every year using the recommended 5w40 semi synthetic 505.01 oil (Millers). I have always bought  a 5 litre container of oil but the engine only needs about 4 litres

  !!!. Although it only has 500 miles on it in view of its age and the dust would it be worth an oil change/filter now...also the air filter at the same time I have blown off most of the dust with an air line and the bug is looking great! thanks alan
