Tyre Wear Rant 20 May 2003 (Forum)
I have just visited my local tyre retailer and they have informed me that my front Pirelli P6000's are worn out at 14k miles!!! I will be asking Volvo why they fit such crap tyres on a £26k car (V70 D5 SE). I know, Pirelli sell them cheap to car manufactures because no one else will buy them. I -
The Back Room Poll 16 May 2003 (Forum)
hiccups) we\'ll be running a poll (kindly supplied free of charge by http://www.alxnet.com ). Wowbagger\'s suggestions included \"How long is it since you last read the Highway Code?\", so that will be the subject of the first poll, but if anyone else has suggestions for subsequent polls, post them here -
Choosing an urban car 16 May 2003 (Forum)
1.3. I'm a little more inclined to the Civic, but the Yaris looks neat to the females. All seem competent and much the same price, within about £1000, with some shopping around. The mix is brand new discounted Yaris T3 (the revised one), nearly new Civic 3-door S (garage courtesy car) and low -
If not Laguna, then what?? 30 Apr 2003 (Forum)
things in the £18-24k band (and a bit above), but lease costs are obviously higher for stuff like audis/beemers/mercs etc. I know I can get a Mondeo diesel Ghia X for the same outlay s the renault, but I don't think it looks as good, and I'm not keen on the look of the passat either. You just seem -
Clio petrol pump 22 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Daughter's friend brought round a 1.2 Clio S-reg today with a very noisy petrol pump. Renault dealer says £350 to replace while independent local garage says around £240. The dealer says the flow of fuel is within spec so the pump operation is OK apart from what sounds like mechanical -

Merc E Class problems 6 Feb 2003 (Forum)
My wife has a 25,000m E320CDi (9/2000 vintage)with a few problems, neither of which the dealer has been able to find. First one is a strange 'flapping' noise from the O/S rear wheel, which appears intermittently when pulling away. We've checked the tyres etc. Lastly, the steering intermittently -

Motoring Joke 8 Dec 2002 (Forum)
him a pencil-necked n***. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn tyres! So I called him a piece of horse s**t. He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket for a cracked windshield. This went -
Ford remote locking keys 29 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I have now done.Unfortunately it still doesn`t work. How can I prove whether it is the key or the car that is faulty? Does anything need "reprogramming to make it work again? Can anyone explain in layman`s terms how this remote system works? If it is the key that is faulty , how do I obtain -
White line fever 14 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Interesting story in today\'s http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2002/11/13/nline13.xml&sSheet=/news/2002/11/13/ixhome.html about an experiment in reverse psychology conducted by Wiltshire County Council. Apparently, whenever stretches of road are resurfaced the white lines -
306 D Turbo - again! 1 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Hi all, A while ago I posted on here about my woes with my 306. When cornering and travelling at low speed across rough ground, I can hear a creaking/banging type sound coming from the O/S front wheel area. The general opinion was that the arb droplinks needed replacing. Well I replaced them -
Volvo S60 T5 SE v 2.4T SE 1 Nov 2002 (Forum)
powerhouse it is. Browsing the web however, most motoring Journos appear to prefer the 2.4T, saying that it's 200 bhp is more useable than the T5's 250 bhp in everyday driving, with less turbo lag and a better torque curve. I well know however the difference between briefly road testing a car -
LED Lighting eg Range Rover 5 Oct 2002 (Forum)
, cost of vehicle off road and so on. So wondered when this technology was going to filter down onto normal cars and get rid of the high frequency we all see of cars diving round with light(s) out. Seen quite a few of the new Range Rover, but yesterday was the first time I'd followed one. LED rear -
Old shape BMW 7 series 22 Jun 2002 (Forum)
I'm seriously considering getting a second hand 7 series on an S or T plate. I cover about 25k a year, including a couple of trips to Austria/Switzerland, and the idea of a car like this for under £15,000 appeals to me. Am I being a complete fool? If so, you'd better talk me out of it. I really -
MOT failure points? Newbie query. 11 Jun 2002 (Forum)
How badly corroded do brake disks have to be in order to fail the MOT? Is there somewhere on the net that has photos of what would fail and what would pass? I have just bought a car which was MOT\'d on Saturday and I have noticed that the rear driver\'s side disk has quote corroded, worse than -
VW parts near Yeovil (Calling Guy Lacey?) 13 Apr 2002 (Forum)
of the fast fit places to put another tissue paper box on with a 13 month rust through guarantee. Does anywhere near Yeovil sell Ernst (or similar good quality) exhausts? I know G&S in Bristol do, but it's a bit far away. Or are there any decent exhaust suppliers around here? I'm not afraid to crawl -
Driven Tonight 31 Mar 2002 (Forum)
In the absence of the regulation thread on Driven I?ll start one. The comparison between the S class Merc and 7 series BMW IMHO set new a new low even by the standards of this programme. For those who didn?t watch, it consisted of Jason switching off the electronic traction devices. He then drove -
