So we were driving home from a wedding on Sat night, doing about 60mph on a country road when we rounded a gentle corner to find a rabbit sitting in the middle of the road. My first reaction would have been to stand on the brakes. However my wife was driving and she chose instead to drive over -

I have a Golf Mk IV estate, only 2.5 years old. The other day we found a puddle of water in the front footwell, and the rear footwell was also soaking (both driver side). On testing with a hose it seems that water is tracking in from somewhere above the brake pedal mounting. Under the bonnet -

Today is my car's annual £25 oil and filter change. Other than this I never EVER do any other maintenace on my car. I only cover around 6k miles a year. I see garages offering "full" services for anything around £60-£100 but this seems to me little more than the oil and filter change plus a brake -

bulb. To double check this I tested it by swapping it with the brake light and it did indeed work. Is this a common problem? Is there some well-known dodgy electrics concerning the reverse light on this model? Tomorrow I will swap the rear plate with the other rear light and test to see -

VAG DSG Auto gearbox and hill starts 8 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I wonder if people can share their experiences of using VAG's DSG gearbox, with twin clutch etc... As I understand it, you have two peddles, brake and throttle, and then control gears with levers around the wheel. Now you can drive in automatic, or use up and down gear shifting. My question -

Useful signs 24 Dec 2003 (Forum)
On the way to Stansted this morning at around JCN 2 of the M25 I caught sight of a multitude of brake lights in the distance and immediately expected mayhem to ensue. What happened next was that various matrix signs illuminated and a much larger version flashed a warning "stranded vehicle ahead -
Speed bumps 8 Dec 2003 (Forum)
increased wear of tyres, suspension systems and brakes, plus greater exhaust emissions from the ensuing acceleration, plus more noise from deceleration, impact and acceleration -- all negative effects that not only hit the pocket of the vehicle owner but also degrade the environment. In aggregate, the costs -

My friend has a VW Passat 1.8 turbo (2001) that he has had for four months. In the last six weeks he has noticed an intermittent problem. The car cuts out when the speed is reduced to around 10-20 mph i.e. when needing to brake from a higher speed. This has been happening about once or twice -
Audi A6 Multitronic gearbox fault 6 Oct 2003 (Forum)
When I engage drive,or reverse, there is a significant delay of 2 - 5 seconds before the gearbox engages and when it does engage there is an audible "bang" due to the rev's that have built up. If I attempt a hill start with the box in drive I need to keep my foot on the brake to stop the vehicle
