Number plate mystery 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)
The motoring link here is this, the daughter, Lorraine B**** ran an Audi TT with the number plate LOZZIE B..now I've racked the old brain cells and havn't come up with anything that might make this up...I tried a tenuous Irish LOZ 2138 but that doesn't come up on DVLA vehicle check. Any ideas ? Mind you, how stupid can you be ? If you're running a huge criminal scam, why pick a number which is going to alert every patrol car and anpr camera in the country ? Ted -
Snowmobile in Warwick! 7 Sep 2004 (Forum)
So, anybody want to buy some South African number plates, international ZA stickers and faked-up tax discs?? Growler, could we turn this into a money-making scam, or what?? Ok, Mr da Lima of Queizon City won't be too pleased, noe will Mr van der Merwe of Bellville, but ... -
The fine in Spain falls mainly on..... 15 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Either letter will alleged that traffic offences have been committed in Spain by your goodself for which there is an outstanding fine of 108 Euro's (72 quid) which should be forwarded. This is a scam and should not be paid and your local Trading Standards made aware who are apparently collating incidents with a view to having the Spanish Authorites take action to stop. Currently scan doing the rounds in the NE England. -

Servicing Scam 27 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I was more astounded to find out that a friend who also bought her car from the same dealer at around the same time (who didn't allow herself to get roped into this scam), had her 'long life' service facility disabled by the dealer, meaning she would have to go and have her car serviced annually (long life oil or not) !!! It would appear to me that the dealer is using the good technology that has been developed by VW (which should be of benerfit to the buyer) to make considerable amounts of money off trusting customers like myself. -

Effect of having insurance cancelled 15 Mar 2003 (Forum)
What Mark (RLBS) says about having difficulty in this situation is certainly true. It is unfortunate as the cancellation wasn't her fault. A popular scam with young people is to only put themselves as named drivers. My sister rightly didn't want to do this and has always had her own policy. Another scam is to put a low-risk parents address when keeping the car in a high-risk area. -

Vw Polo - Insurance Renewal 22 Jul 2011 (Forum)
i also tried lowering my cover to TPFT without NCD and Legals and they came out at £70 cheaper, it is clearly a scam. How can they justify this increase ? I feel discriminated against for being a safe driver, am i alone ? -
Bora stops because the lights don't work 15 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Next morning they phone up saying if was the rear lights that failed. It cost £80 to fix mind you. Is this a scam to get cars into the workshop? Who are VW to tell you to stop driving without telling you why when it is something that isn't likely to damage the car? Talk about nanny state - we have nanny cars now. -
I have a question Volume 47 3 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Sewage, grass seed, under-insurance, funeral garb - an amazingly eclectic selection of subjects! This prompts me to add another: I have been, I have to admit, a complete wally, and been scammed by someone on ebay.I have parted with 600 smackeroos for an item I never received. All I have is a set of bank account details (probably genuine) and an address in N. London (probably incorrect). -

Is this (motoring) email a scam? 9 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I got this email today. It may be genuine but looks like a scam to me. I can't believe that people who have worked on a project for 21 years can know so little about industry contacts. Sorry it's a bit long. I've removed the return email address to discourage any Back-Roomers from getting involved!
