'luxury' supermini ? 22 Jun 2006 (Forum)
. Reasonable running costs. 8. Max £10k - if used, max 3 years old. I can't think of anything that comes close. My Yaris scores well on 1, 2, 4, 7, and 8, but poorly on the others. Most cars that score well on 3, 5 and 6 are too big. Any ideas? -
DVLA number plate transfer 4 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Would anyone know if tranferring a personal plate from one vehicle to another can be quick (i.e days, rather than months). I have transfered once before, but retained the number first, putting the old car back onto original plates, before taking the new vehicle to the DVLA to get re-registered. I -

VW Golf Mk3 - Directional tyre question 18 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I need 3 new tyres on my car. I have narrowed it down to Toyo Proxes T1-R in a 205/50/R15 size. Two questions... 1. I have a Pirelli P6000 on the rear nearside which is a couple of months old and does not need replacing. Is it advisable to have one (Toyo) directional tyre on one side -

Hi all - long time no type! My old purple mondeo, which I've had for 4 years and driven to death, finally died the other day - or rather something else went wrong and I had to make the decision to say byebye *sniff*. So, I've bought myself another one - a gorgeous TDCi LX on a 52 plate. 1 owner -

Hi all, The plip on my 306 S16 1995 was slowly become more of a hassle to open the car.....you had to play with it on the windscreen...eventally it stopped working from the outside, but did when you were in the car. My thoughts....battery...right, replaced the batteries, now it will not work -

Peugeot 306 1.4 petrol Cambelt interval 1 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Hi How important is the 3-year/36k miles cambelt change interval as stipulated in HJ's car-by-car breakdown? I ask because a friend has just bought one at 5 years old (V-reg) and 38,000 miles. He does not know the service history, so I am presuming the belt hasn't been changed. He is getting -
Volvo V40 air recirculation flap servo 20 Feb 2005 (Forum)
The air recirculation flap on my V40 has recently jammed when switching from recyled air to fresh, causing the servo motor to click loudly until switched back to recyled air. It's not a problem with only one person in the car, but my wife and I have three children under 4 years old and when we're -
Have I been duped?? 26 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I bought a three year old Ford Mondeo TDdi Ghia X from a dealer 14 days ago. At the time I made my concerns clear regarding a mistake in the logbook - it stated the car was a 4 door sallon Ghia - when infact it's a 5 door hatch Ghia X. The salesman assured me it was probably typing error on DVLA's -

I have a company car which is a three year old 150 bhp diesel golf gti with 108 k on the clock. It was serviced about three weeks ago and about two weeks later a shuddering noise developed which transpired to be a broken camshaft. The dealer wanted to replace the engine but VW finance only agreed -
Vauxhall 1.7 CDTI 5 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Does anyone have any experience with this engine?, particularly when fitted to an Astra?. We've been looking at old shape Astras and the low-spec CDTIs are going for about the same money as higher-spec DTIs. If there is no noticeable difference between the engines (MPG, Power, Noise etc -

I have just bought my wife 1 year old Focus 1.6 Zetec and am generally very happy with the car all round. The only niggling problem I have is a rattle coming from the rear end when driving at moderate speeds on country lanes. I have tried to troubleshoot this by removing everything from the boot -

Colour of oil after a service 10 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I've owned a lot of petrol cars over the years and am used to the oil after a service remaining fairly clean and golden coloured for a couple of thousand miles at least. My new diesel-engined car has just had its first service and to my surprise the new oil is (after checking the level after just -

Road rage 15 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Apologies in advance if I'm going over old subject matter, but has anyone else noticed an increase in road rage over this last week. Is the so-called 'possibility' of war turning drivers a bit funny? In addition to the two incidents I mentioned on the fog lights thread, I witnessed another -

I have an old banger which I run as a second car and i'm trying to work out what the least I can pay to insure it is? I have a policy in my own name for another vehicle which allows me to drive other vehicles third party only. The exception is that it doesn't cover other vehicles owned
