• Calibra V6 running on 4 cylinder 8 Apr 2003 (Forum)
  My Vauxhall Calibra V6 is only running on 4 cylinder. My local garage advise me to change the Distributor but that did not solve the problem. Also had the Control unit tested and it has no fault. Could this be some kind of wiring or knock sensor fault? Please advise... The leads are ok..

  A question from someone new to diesel..... If a petrol car runs out of fuel I just stick some more in and go. I've heard that a diesel has to be put through a certain procedure; 're-priming' or something like that. Any advice please! I'm thinking of getting an N-reg Mondeo turbo diesel. David

  My car radio will not work when the engine is running, however if the key is in the ignition with the engine off, it works fine. I assumed it was the radio unit, so bought another, but it's still the same fault. The wiring seems to be OK, but I must be missing something!

  When you have had the battery off for half hour and then run the engine for 20 - 30 mins at idle - Is it important to switch off then take it for a run or can it just be taken for a run after idle without switching off? thanks for any advice

  About to get D5 Turbo-Diesel engine in a Volvo. I Remember reading somewhere that with BMW it is advisable after a long run to leave the engine at tick-over for a few minutes to ensure it remains lubricated. Do I need to do the same with the Volvo and are any other cars affected?

  I have a 77 xj6 which after being "tuned", by an apparently knowledgeble friend of mine has developed a nasty case of over-running when switching off. I can't help thinking that it can't be good for it apart from anything else. Any ideas? Timing seems spot on and retarding doesn't seem to help

  I own a peugeot 205 but when I turn the ignition it dose not stop running. I did have some success when changing the idle screw (I think thats its name) on the choke it did stop it but know its started doing it again. what could the problem be and will it cause engine damage

  Our Ford Puma 1.7 has developed a fault whereby it intermittently runs erratically and unevenly, and even cuts out; it's as if it's misfiring. The local Ford dealer has rectified some faults on the servo but the fault remains, and the diagnostic machine cannot identify it. Anybody have any ideas

  A friend of mine has told me that a tdi uses an incredible amount of fuel during start up and if you are only planning to leave the car for 10-15 minutes its cheaper to leave it running!
