Volkswagen Golf GTI (2013 - 2020)
2.0 TSI 230ps GTI DSG6 5dr Hatchback
Fantastic performance and handling. Best all rounder.
I have always liked the Golf GTI's so decided to buy one when I was thinking of getting rid of my diesel Astra, preferring petrol from now on.
Since buying the Golf I heard about some owners experiencing high oil consumption but am pleased to say mine has used negligible amounts of oil between services - maybe driving in Sport mode all the time, with resultant high revs might have an impact? I tend to keep in normal drive mode as the performance is ore than adequate for UK roads.
Technology wise I find the touch screen very distracting. How can you decide to change radio channels without looking at the screen? Maybe buyers like all the tech but as far as I am concerned I reckon I use about 25% of its capabilities so VW, please keep cars simple!
My car has 18" rims which make the ride hard enough, but just leaves a reasonable amount of ride comfort. UK severe pot holes do make the car bounce around quite a lot.
Overall a great car, very enjoyable to drive with not bad fuel consumption. A fantastic small hatchback. Would I buy again? Yes.
