Volkswagen Golf Estate (2013 - 2020)
2.0 TDI 184ps 6speed Gtd MK7 5dr Estate
Mostly fab, but some niggles
I've just completed my first 1000 miles (in just over a week). Thoroughly enjoyable and impressive for the most part. Superb handling/steering/gearchange make it mostly a joy to drive. Ride is amazingly absorbent too, and seats are another superb. Engine feels good, haven't really stretched it yet. I got 46 mpg on 1st tankful, 45 mpg on 2nd.
One obvious niggle: limited range/relatively small fuel tank, having to refill around 450 miles (I am a high miler obviously).
Relatively narrow power band (compared to previous diesel Mondeo) makes it too easy to stall in 2nd/3rd gears, guess I'll have to get used to this.
Biggest disappointment is the Climatronic system which makes it difficult to set a consistent, comfortable temperature - much inferior to my previous Mondeo.
Otherwise the car is in a different league and putting a lot of smiles on my face.
