Total satisfaction and more with Golf Estate

I brought the car from Drive the Deal against my specification.
Replaced my VW Passat 1996 1.9 TDI estate having driven 400,000 miles.
I did all my own routine maintenance so wanted something similar to 64 MPG.
I also have an X reg 1.9 TDI polo estae that does 63 MPG (180,000 miles)

Realisation that cars have moved on since 1996 to 2014!

This new golf 2.0 150 has the power and acceleration when you really need it and idles most of the time.
It holds the road well and the suspension is fine.
I feel that I am part of the driving experience in this car and really enjoy the comfort, handling and power.
The car is spacious inside and ample room for 4/5 adults and luggage and dogs. Seating and visibility are very good.

The controls and extra's to use are distracting and to be honest I doubt that I have grasped everthing that is on offer or how to use them all.
I have no idea of the difference in the drive mode options - eco, normal and sporty. I have used sporty. I can not see any difference in performance and economy between eco and normal.

diappointed in two areas
1. paintwork - really showing up chips on bonnet and wings - put a car bra on nose of bonnet too late but still get chips and scatches - even when cleaning!!!
2. I drive mostly on motorway 62 miles to and from work daily on M5 (Near Cheddar Somerset to Gloucester) and done 6000 miles at 61.7 MPG average speed on motorway ~ 62 MPH average speed over this 6000 miles is ~48 MPH.

I have had no problems with the car in terms of faults - warning about low air pressure in one tyre only.

I specified Bi-xenon lights - really good for rare use in summer.

I can't get a Haynes manual - Looks difficult for DIY for basic maintenance - do I need to go to a dealer - as I do not trust them and the cost so much for a simple oil and filter change - what advice is out there?

I have not taken out any warrenty and insurance was comparable to VW Passat
