Good but not great

We have owned our Meriva 1.7 CDTi auto SE for 20 months. So far we have not had any problems apart from the DPF. Twice now the car has given a 55 code resulting in a drive down the motorway to regenerate the filter. There is supposed to be a warning light that comes on or flashes before you get the code. This indicates the filter needs cleaning and to continue driving if you turn the car off when the warning light is illuminated or flashing when you restart a 55 fault code will appear. We do not get a warning light just the code so we never know the car must not be turned off. The car is now booked in under warranty to have the suspected fault investigated.
I would not recommend buying a diesel with a DPF if you are not constantly driving on motorways.

The cabin area is spacious and well laid out. I dislike the center console rail system anyone in the back center seat has to have their legs either side of the rails. The MPG is awful we average 36MPG not very good for a modern diesel. The brakes are very good and stop on a sixpence. The tyre noise in the cab is quite loud but after we had new tyres fitted the noise is not as bad.
