Skoda Octavia (2004 - 2013)
vRS 2.0T FSI 5dr Hatchback
Pile of junk and very disappointing a complete waste of our savings
Brought in 2007 from Skoda dealer in Scotland, full spec car.
We wanted a car for the next 10-15yrs whilst we started a family so spent our savings on it based on Skoda reliability......how wrong we were.
1 owner 8,000mls FSH, AA inspected, £15,200. Brought it and drove it back to London.
Skoda fitted a tow bar £700 in 2007.
The story begins;
2008 - throttle sensor, booked it in, they stated ECU not programming and requires work. Pages of fault codes which they would not show us and sent to Skoda. (never seen again).
Rear wiper not working
All done on warranty.
Then the fun began.
We have owned this car for just for 5 years and put 24k on the clock.
Fully Skoda serviced up to 60k with new belt.
Just out of warranty the coil pack blew at 70mph leaving us with no power, ignition fuse blew, very scary.
Coils replaced at our cost and 2 weeks later the CAT failed. This was at 22k and we were not happy, Skoda offered us 50%. (2011 recall for coils but no refund).
A year later and the ABS module failed costing £1,200. Skoda offered £300.
Just after that the air con compressor failed at a cost of £800, Skoda did not want to know.
Rear wiper fails again.
And now just 6 months later the warning light comes on and we are looking at MAF sensor or more.
Rear wiper has also failed again.
Skoda dealer stated that the car had many ECU faults however have since closed down and the paper work is missing,Skoda deny existance, another dealer stated that this is a problem car on the system but refused to speak anymore on the issue. Skoda washed their hands after warranty expired.
This is the worst car I have ever owned and in total we have spent just under £4,000 in 5 years on fixing various problems and diagnostics, never mind the AA recovery. It belongs in a skip.
The car itself really is a lovely car to drive when it works with big grins but I'm sorry Skoda you have failed on this with customer service, these faults are becoming common on VRS's but on a car with 34k.......come on?????? FSH with main dealer.....
Insult to injury its worth £4,200 part ex just £200 more than we spent fixing it.
I owned a Vauxhall for 11 years and not one problem apart from normal servicing costs.
We are left with no money to invest in a new car, have a child, wife has been made redundant and our dreams of a reliable car for the next 10 years have been smashed, we are so upset with Skoda.........to me all those skip jokes are now a reality.
