Skoda Karoq (2018 on)
1.6 TDI 115ps SE L DSG SCR 5dr
Good mpg
Review after four years. Leased since September 2018. 20,500 miles. Horrible ride quality, solid suspension only relieved a little when carrying a full load. Strange that reviewers say the Karoq and it's 'VW Tiguan, Seat Ateca counterparts are comfortable. Seems to be the modern ride quality to be expected nowadays. A lot to do with the poor quality of our roads, but I've been spoiled by years of owning Citroen's with magic carpet hydro-pneumatic ride.
Seven speed automatic, not the smoothest transmission and can occasionally scrabble from a standing start. Brakes are powerfully reassuring, bit grabby if not so gentle on the pedal. Steering very light, with no feedback. Good turning circle.
Fuel economy is good. Average 52mpg.
Motorway, at steady 60mph can achieve 63mpg. Go to 70 and it drops to 43mpg.
Battery failed at six months old (had left dashcam on at airport). Replaced and no problems since. Fuel filler door flap recently locked itself shut and needed a replacement lock solenoid.
Front tyre treads 2mms at 18,500 miles so had them replaced. Rears at 5mms still look as good as new.
