Style over substance

This is a lovely looking car. The exterior and interior are beautifully styled but after several months it is becoming clear that this is an example of style over substance. I loved the look of the car but the reality of living with it led me to trade it in after less than a year which was an expensive business.

The engine is amazing for a 1.2 with 155 BHP but I found the autogearbox to be slow witted and jerky when approaching roundabouts and needing to accelerate after slowing down. This made driving frustrating

The real problem for me though was visibility. It may just be where I need the seat but I found over the shoulder visibility diabolical when reversing with the rear pillars blocking visibility in car parks to what I consider to be a dangerous degree. The rear view camera initially seemed to be the answer to this but it is very low res, deals badly with glare and a drop of water in the wrong place makes it hopeless. My previous Passat estate was significnantly easier to park and manoeuvre at low speed.

The manual is a joke and you need to go on line to find out basic information around warning lights etc. I ended up turning off the lane departure system as it was very intrusive.
