Nissan Micra (2003 - 2010)
1.2 16v Spirita
good but with a few problems
A good car but had sensor problems which are difficult to diagnose. They seem to start to go faulty for quite some time before the engine management light comes on. The car performs very well for the size of the engine, handles surprisingly well and is very economical, around 50 mpg without even trying. Steering is good with a really tight turning circle. Ride a little firm and front seats could do with more side support. Needs a longer top gear ration as the revs are too high on motorways, around 3,500 rpm, and the engine could easily take it. The sliding rear seat is brilliant as it gives a boot capacity of a much larger car, albeit at the expense of rear legroom. Passenger access to the back seat is poor however due to the sloping roofline. Fit and finish are generally good. The Spirita model that I own has a wheel and tyre combination, 175/60/15, which is costly when replacements are needed. Other models have 14 inch wheels and are much cheaper for tyres. Equipment is adequate for most people's needs, air con, remote locking, electric mirrors etc.
