MINI Hatch 5-door (2014 on)
2.0 Cooper S 5dr
Lovely practical hot hatch
This was bought in Jan 2020 from Motorpoint in Castleford for £12,995 (May 2018 on an '18' plate), with 12,000 miles on the clock. This month (Nov 2021), with 23,000 miles recorded, Webuyanycar.com, offered us well over £15,000; an offer that was refused.
It's fast; yes it is, acceleration is exhilarating and has 'go cart' handling. Yet, you can get 2 full size adults in the back. I'm 5' 11'' tall and I can still sit comfortably behind myself, if that makes sense. The boot is reasonable and has extra storage beneath the boot floor mat, if you want.
Costs; well the car is used by my wife for her 10 mile inter-city commute around Bradford to the school where she works, so not actually the best runs for economy. At weekends, we occasionally use it for more fun runs in the country, but it is averaging over 37 mpg, which is pretty good for a hot hatch, and much better than her previous car, a 2006 Citroen Picasso. Service costs are Ok, but not great at BMW dealers, but what would you expect.
Would we buy one again; well we would, but there is no need, as this one is so good. Absolutely. My wife enjoys 'the bit of grunt', as she can exit roundabouts in the competitive Bradford driving environment, when there is a slight gap in the traffic which she was not able to do in her previous car. Although our mileage is low, there have been no issues with the car at all.
Highly recommended if you want acceleration, reasonable fuel consumption, and reasonable costs.
