Likeable small hatchback with a good turn of speed

This last year has meant little use, but the car performed well. However this month the computer flashed up a problem
with the headlight alignment, so the car went in for a service.
The problem was diagnosed as water leaking from the washer hosepipe and dripping onto the wiring loom and causing it to swell, which meant it had to be replaced at enormous cost (£3000) .
On reading the mini forum many people have had the same problem which would suggest it is a design fault on this particular model. BMW mini were willing to give an 80% reduction on the labour costs, this was accepted but it still left a large amount
to pay.
Needless to say this has turned me against purchasing another Mini.
