Good on motorways, but £4K to service/maintain over 4 years and M-B dealerships best avoided
I bought this car as a motorway cruiser to take me between Oxford and Edinburgh on a regular basis. It has done this to good effect, except on the last trip when it had to be recovered after (what turned out to be known and widespread) problems with the coolant system and the 250 engine (new water pump, EGR valve seal and temperature thermostat). By this time, I had driven 55,000 miles in this five and a half year old, fully M-B serviced car. My local dealer was unsympathetic and wanted an extraordinary sum of money to put right. I shall never buy another Mercedes, not least because of my experience of the M-B 's******ships'.
