Mercedes-Benz CLS (2011 - 2018)
250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Sport 4dr Coupe
Head Turning Looks - Economical -- Cumbersome - Agricultural 4cyl Diesel
The good bits :)
Stunning looks - certainly best in class by a MASSIVE margin.
It is very economical - 50mpg on motorways: 46mpg overall.
Very sure footed and certainly accelerates decisively in 'Sport' mode.
Very well appointed - but other marques are a bit less parsimonous in terms of standard appointments.
Local dealer (Blackpool) - although not supplying dealer - has been very supportive 5*****
Cavernous boot.
The moans :(
Very limited lateral and rear visibility (possible safety issue).
Compared to my old W124 coupe (320 CE), this car is a barge! - think 'bridge to engine room'. - Parked it next to a 320S and it's about the same length! My old Merc coupe blows its socks off, in terms of performance, build quality and driver feedback (but only returns 25mpg!!!).
VERY gruff diesel - the 350cdi should put a 'collar and tie' on the car, and, if you can live with the mpg, I would personally take that pain, every time - each time I accelerate, I'm thinking 'Massey-Ferguson'. It spoils the car!
Illogical gear select position and wiper controls: should take lessons from VAG.
Enigmatic driver info from onboard telemetry.
Overall view: Sheep in wolf's clothing.
