Mercedes-Benz CLK (2002 - 2009)
350 Sport Auto Coupe
Great to drive and a pleasure to own
I bought from a dealer with a 2 year warranty, which was invoked once to replace a cracked spring and once to cajole the CD changer back to life. Routine servicing and MOT have been conducted by my local MB dealer with no surprise expense. The car has almost every option and looks and feels like something twice the price. Depreciation as the second owner has been manageable and running costs reasonable for a 3.5 litre v6. Tax is £400odd and insurance little more than my old 318i. Fuel consumption on a run is 30 to 32 mpg at a regular speed limit + 10% + 1 mph versus an expected 25/26. All of this makes the smooth power of the engine a pleasure and not a guilty one. At 6odd seconds 0-60 it's not the fastest, but it's an accomplished and comfortable compromise that's always a pleasure to drive. The smooth 7 speed auto sits mostly in sport mode, but has an occasional run in comfort mode on lazy wafts on country roads, with no discernable loss of get up and go when needed. The wear and tear of nearly 8 years shows very lightly, and I would gladly buy another car of this quality should the opportunity arise.
