A rare species, a hoot of a car, great fun, no retentions, just a joy to get behind the wheel

We bought the car after 10years in a TT roadster, Audi has gone way beyond sensible prices for a car the fill such a 2 seater niche. I've read the reviews of the MX5 over the years and always hankered to try one. When it was time to change the TT the MX5 was the only one on our hit list. For the type of driving we use the MX5 for the 1.5 is fine. I just enjoy using it in preference to our family SUV the economy is quite spectacular on our rural country roads I hardly ever get <52mpg, only dropping to <50 on dual carriage ways and motorways, not that there are many of those in Norfolk.

From a practicality point t of view, don't take it shopping unless your partner is happy to hold some of the shopping, but that's not the point. I only have a couple of minor gripes about usability (not driving) they are
- need to keep the engine running to put up the windows after they retract when moving the roof. up or down
- need to keep the engine running when using the information system

To sum up...if you want a 2 seater, get an MX5.
