Lexus IS (2013 - 2020)
300h Executive Edition 223 CVT Auto 4dr Saloon
A thoroughly delightful drive!
I already rate this as the nicest of the 20+ cars I have run. Before deciding I looked at several cars, most notably Mazda 6 diesel auto (very nice), Volvo V60 D4 (liked it a lot - but then I've had five Volvos previously), BMW 320d auto (ghastly seats, poor ride, noisy, dealer didn't sent the finance figures I requested), Audi A4 (yawn), Merc C (pricey). My previous car was a SAAB 9-3 TTiD Aero wagon.
Lexus Sheffield were very keen for me to have the car for 24 hours. I already wanted it by the time I got home (15 miles). The remainder of the 200-mile test drive just reinforced that opinion and a deal was swiftly done. So far I've done 800 miles in my car - some of them just for the sheer pleasure of driving.
Good points: Comfort, handling, refinement, fuel costs (50mpg), looks, satnav and radio.
Bad points: None really. The boot isn't huge, but that's where my wife's Honda CR-V comes in handy.
So far I've only seen four others on the road so it's quite easy to find in car parks!
More news as the miles stack up.
UPDATE 21/07/2015. 5,000 miles on an I still love this car. It's a lovely place to be and very calming - even if you've had a s*** day! Average mpg is 49.5.
UPDATE March 2017. I have now parted with the IS and defected to another brand. I retain fond memories of it and would certainly consider another Lexus in the future. There were no problems with it and the dealer - Lexus Sheffield - provided good service. A very nice car indeed. Average mpg overall was about 48 - I put the drop down to me driving it a bit more briskly.
