Land Rover Freelander 2 (2006 - 2015)
2.2 TD4 GS 5dr 4 X 4
Reliable, comfortable, well built. It also looks very good.
I drive 22,000 miles a year and the LR has been excellent. I wanted the safety and peace of mind with 4x4.
Maybe because of my journey pattern (busy motorway i.e not 70mph all the way) - I get what looks like above-average mpg. We specced the car up with Xenon lights, sunroof and leather so it's more like an XS really. The only "complaint" - which probably derives from the fact that it has done nearly 150,000 miles, is that the headlight lenses have become slightly misty which cuts the beam penetration somewhat. I had to replace the rear differential at 140,000 (not cheap) and the cam belt will need replacing shortly. The car has full service history (main dealer then specialist) which must help explain its longevity. The dealer I use says that the Freelander 2 is the most reliable of all the ageing LRs they look after. I'd recommend one.
