Great on the open road, terrible in town

The XE is a good looking car and after owning German brands previously I thought I would change to Jaguar. The AWD 240 R-Sport I have is unfortunately a deeply annoying car to own. It is actually great on an open road or motorway, very capable, quiet and corners extremely well. However urban driving is terrible. The start stop simply never kicks in, the driver 'assistance' that 'warns' you if you are too close to the car in front when stationary beeps continuously and can only be cancelled by hitting a button each time (ie it will kick in again the next time you stop, even 1 min later), the beeping starts if you are around 10 foot from the car in front when stationary, a big gap in London traffic, it lurches in traffic and seems confused which gear to choose and will be in 6th gear when doing 30 mph and can't decide what to do if there is a sudden gradient and will change gear many times. The touch button screen is really poor, far too slow to respond and needs you to look away from the road. The computer system eg menu onwards is utterly muddled and confusing and not worth trying to master.
The car seems 'over programmed' as it constantly (incorrectly) attempts to predict the road and traffic ahead.
There are several other issues with the car that result in it being highly irritating to own. As mentioned, on an open road doing a consistent speed with no traffic it is great but day to day in heavy or moderate traffic at 20/30 mph it is the opposite.
