Honda Jazz (2015 - 2020)
1.3 i-VTEC EX 5dr Hatchback
A tardis on wheels let down by lack of engine choice
Buying this car was ruled by the head rather than the heart; I wanted rock-solid reliability (fingers crossed going forward!) - now I am no longer working with its associated tramping of the motorways I "defected" from diesel back to petrol as I am now only driving 9k miles annually. I wanted a car which I could just unlock, turn the key and not be concerned about niggling issues, poor reliability, etc. and knowing that the engine technology is well-proven.
The Jazz is an amazingly practical car - the cinema-seats are regularly employed (especially given that heavy loads can't be accommodated in the centre of boot over the "secret" compartment) and it has swallowed enormous loads from Ikea.
I'm impressed by the real-world MPG I get (53 mpg on Shell premium fuel) despite not being particularly light-footed on the throttle. I'm impressed with the fit and finish.
The downsides: above all the poor engine choice - the car is painfully slow off the blocks, though can be quite an enjoyable/fun drive if the gears are worked without too much detriment to the MPG figures once it has got up to speed!
The other downside is that other drivers see a Jazz and automatically assume that the driver is someone of VERY advanced years, those drivers sometimes being quite impatient..................
Would I buy another - probably only if there were more powerful engine options.
