It is better than you think!

It is a long story as to how we ended up with the Insight when we were trying to test drive a Prius, but we are delighted with it. We needed more space, after an old Toyota Yaris, and the Insight has space to spare. The boot is enormous and the cabin comfortable for our tall friends. We also wanted economy at least as good as the Yaris and we get better. It will never compete with the Prius; but for our modest needs it is perfect. I am genuinely surprised that we get appreciative looks, and people still think that it is a brand new car, even though we bought it as nearly 2 years old 16 months ago. Steering is light, which suits me around town. Suspension is comfortable, seats are brilliant at supporting my dodgy back. Sudden acceleration IS noisy, but I don't notice it anymore, (and don't do it very often!) and otherwise the engine is quiet. I soon got used to the funny split window at the back, which affects rear view, but now use my wing mirrors more than I did, which is a good thing. I like the digital dash, which tells me how green my driving style is, and has stopped me racing off at traffic lights, and causes me to look further ahead, to slow down earlier, when necessary. This means that realistically I get 58 mpg around town. Not stunning figures I know, but I do too many short runs to use a diesel. On a long run, it comes into its element, and sings along in the high 60's-low 70's mpg. It isn't a car to pose in, so insurance is reasonable. My limited experience with the local Honda dealer has been impressive - enough to steer me towards Honda again, compared to other "dealers-I-have-known...." It seems to be totally reliable. Prius are everywhere. How often do you SEE an Insight?
