Honda CR-V (2012 - 2018)
Honda CRV SE 2.2 diesel auto
Well built, easy to drive and reliable
Previous car was a Ford Kuga which handled very well. The CRV (my first Honda) is heavier and does not handle as well but the only real issue for me is the ride on our bumpy roads which I find very choppy compared with the Kuga and this nearly put me off buying the car. However I am now used to the ride and find the car very well built and easy to drive. The automatic box is very old fashioned being only 5 speed but it is well tested and probably very reliable.
The seats are comfortable but there is a problem with the seat height which gradually lowers over time (see Forum). It is spacious even for four adults and the boot is big enough for 2 sets of golf clubs and trolleys. Noise levels are reasonable except under hard acceleration and the economy on a run is excellent averaging well over 40 mpg. The SE specification is remarkably high but I chose it for the bigger tyres/smaller wheels for the best ride but see my comment above. The car has been virtually fault-free, a big plus point.
Would I buy another - yes if they sort the ride and modernise the auto box (Honda are working on a 8 speed auto I believe).
