Honda CR-V (2012 - 2018)
1.6i DTEC SE 2WD 5dr SUV
Economical and spacious family car
Having previously owned a very reliable CRV mk3 CTDi, for six years, for me replacing it with a new one was a no brainer. My previous CRV covered 110,000 miles with the only non service item required was a master cylinder replacement at 65,000 miles. I averaged 45MPG.
My new 1.6DTEC 2wd SE has been faultless over the last 18 months and after 10,000 miles I am averaging 57mpg on my commute which is mainly rural A roads.Although my 1.6DTEC is not 4WD, I found that with top quality M+S tyres I never had the previous CRV's 4WD system kick in, even in the snow.With the factory fitted Continental cross contacts,driving in moderate mud and snow will still be achievable.
In comparison with my previous CRV I have noticed the following differences;
1.6 DTEC low speed ride is not quite as compliant as previous 2.2, but high speed ride is better.
New one doesn't have as many cubbyholes as previous one to store bits n pieces, but still has lots of leg and head room as previous car. The 1.6DTEC is much quieter than previous CRV, in both engine and wind noise.Although 18bhp less than previous CRV I owned, it doesn't feel slower at all due to being 120KG lighter. Steering and pedals all feel lighter to use.
New technology, with DAB car radio,bluetooth, stop/start, reversing camera all improve the 1.6 DTEC over the previous CRV.
Combined with great fuel economy, I can heartily recommend this CRV as a fantastic family vehicle.
