Honda Civic (2012 - 2017)

Abnormal wear on near side inner rear brake pad
My car went in for its 3rd service having done 36000 miles. On collecting my vehicle in the evening I was informed by the Honda service personnel that was a problem with uneven rear brake pad wear and it would need to come back for investigation and resolution.
I spoke to the engineer who said that he had seen a couple of vehicles come in with unusual pad wear and had therefore requested technical assistance from Honda UK to assist with determining the cause. The service people told me that it would all be covered under warranty.
I duly returned my car for the work to be done and was informed later that day that work was not under warranty after all has the mileage had exceeded 35000 miles (!!) but as a gesture of good will the Honda service department would pay for parts but I had to pay for the labour. It wasn't a huge amount but I should not have had to pay anything.
When I collected the car I spoke again to the engineer who explained that there was no fault with brake calipers or no damage to disc that he could see. He showed me the old brake pads and the kerb side inner pad was 80% to 90% worn with no such comparable wear on the off side or the front pads. All of which struck me as being highly unusual if not completely abnormal.
Honda need to investigate and resolve this issue as a matter of urgency. I am clearly not the first person to have this problem and nor will I be the last. A quick scan of the internet tells me this much. If Honda cared about its customers as much as it says it would have sorted this out under warranty as it is clearly not normal wear and tear. Overall an extremely disappointing experience and not what I expected from Honda.
