Honda Civic (2012 - 2017)
1.8 i-VTEC ES 5dr Hatchback
Disappointing
I bought a Civic as I liked the looks and thought Honda were a bit better built than the average family car - my test drive seemed to bear this out.
However after a few weeks of owning the car it seems that is not the case, electrical problems, failed stop start, lots of annoying rattles from behind the dashboard have all given the impression of a shoddily built car.
Never mind, at least the 1.8 should be lively and fairly economical? Not really, the 1.8 drives like a 1.6 from a different era. OK when you're going up through the gears, but 6th gear is a waste of time on the motorway as it offers zero acceleration. Economy is around 36mpg which isn't as good as I hoped.
I still like the looks and the interior is a nice place (apart from the rattles) but ultimately I'm disappointed, I should have gone for my second choice which was the Volkswagen golf.
